The Ripple Effect of Seeking Revenge: Understanding Its Impact

Sometimes, we may react to a difficult situation in which we feel slighted by wanting revenge or inflicting an equivalent amount of perceived pain on the other person they inflicted on us. However, as Bernard Goldman in his article on the impact of revenge tells us, this can lead to a cycle of constantly seeking revenge which can be used as a distraction from underlying suffering we may be feeling. Cultural influences, among other factors, can further play into our need for revenge, but we need to be able to move past this, which allows us to free up energy to focus instead on our own goals and aspirations.
