North Tokyo Counseling is a small private practice based in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. We work with children, adults, and older adults, as well as providing couples counseling and psychological testing.

 

Role Description

We are seeking a Licensed Psychologist/Psychotherapist for a contract role at North Tokyo Counseling, working with both the English and Japanese-speaking communities. This is a hybrid role, based in Tokyo with some flexibility for working from home. The Licensed Psychologist/Psychotherapist will be responsible for conducting psychological assessments, providing counseling services, and developing treatment plans. Day-to-day tasks include working with clients to address mental health issues, documenting sessions, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

 

This is initially a contract position which, if demand allows, may develop into a full-time position.

Hours are flexible, with salary and scheduling negotiable.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Psychology, Counseling, and Mental Health

• Ability to conduct Psychological Assessments a benefit but not required.

• Knowledge of Medicine relevant to mental health and psychological treatments

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience working in a clinical setting is preferred

• A valid license to practice as a psychologist in your home country or Japan.

• Master's or Doctorate in Psychology or a related field

• Must be fluent in Japanese enough to engage in therapy with a Japanese speaker.

 

Please note that we are currently seeking someone currently living in Japan and cannot sponsor visas for foreign psychologists outside of Japan at this time.
