An excellent article on the increased risk of chronic fatigue by Nicole Gilroy. A study by researchers at Brighton and Sussex Medical School found that neurodivergent children, such as those with autism or ADHD, are twice as likely to experience chronic disabling fatigue by age 18. This increased risk is linked to higher levels of inflammation due to stress in childhood. The findings emphasize the importance of early screening and better support for neurodivergent children to prevent chronic fatigue and improve their quality of life. It did not indicate that all chronic fatigue is related to neurodivergence.
