Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule
ADOS-2
What is the ADOS-2?
The ADOS-2, or Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition, is a structured play-based assessment used to help identify signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children, teens, and adults.
During the ADOS-2, a trained clinician spends time with your child one-on-one, using activities, games, and conversations designed to observe how your child communicates, interacts socially, uses language, and responds to different social situations. It feels more like play than a test, especially for younger children.
The ADOS-2 is not used alone to make a diagnosis but is one important part of a comprehensive evaluation that may include interviews, questionnaires, developmental history, and school feedback. Its purpose is to better understand your child and ensure they receive the right support and resources.
